Annual School “Say Hi Day”
Thank you to all of the community partners, both school boards, students and residents that have supported Say Hi Day for the past 10 years. “Say HI” started out as a simple idea, with very little expectation as to how the community would react and the response just blew us away!! Say Hi has grown into a bit of a movement and none of the success would have been possible without your support. Thank you!!!
2017 Update: WRCPC will be taking a break from coordinating and promoting Say Hi Day. Instead, we will put our energy into seeing how the Say Hi campaign can be evaluated. The information gained from any evaluation will inform the future development of this initiative and help us assess in how to best move forward.
But, just because WE are taking a break, doesn’t mean you need to!! We know that several of our schools, partner organizations, students and residents see value in continuing with Say Hi Day. WRCPC is delighted by this uptake and we hope the tools on the website will assist you in your efforts. Otherwise, please stay tuned for updates about the Say Hi Day evaluation and our plans for 2018!!
Say Hi Day
We have been celebrating Say Hi Day in schools across Waterloo Region since 2007. Students from JK to Grade 12 are encouraged to say hi to each other and participate in a variety of activities on this day as a way to promote belonging, inclusion, respect, and kindness.
Why Say Hi?
“Say Hi Day has had a positive impact on our school and builds an inclusive community for our students.”
Students will get to know each other, feel connected to their school and as a result create a safer school community.
