- Watch for signs of stress or potential family violence
- 24% of employees have experienced domestic violence
- 22% of workers report that they have worked with someone who has been a victim of domestic violence
- Be familiar with your Workplace Family Violence Policy and responsibilities and any special directions due to remote work
- Talk about the rise in family stress and violence during a meeting
- Share the help sign video with your team:
- Share mental health and family safety resources frequently
- Learn to ask questions like “Do you feel safe at home?” “Do you have support?”
- Remember that you are not a counsellor or therapist. Provide empathy, not advice
- Offer to be a support or a link to vital financial or food security resources in the community
- Participate in or provide training like our porch chats on bystander training, conflict resolution, understanding emotional abuse and what leads to family violence or how to help kids who may be in violent homes
