Virtual Porch Chat: Understanding the Impact of Trauma and Abuse on Children & Responding Together

Virtual Porch Chat

Understanding the Impact of Trauma and Abuse on Children and Responding Together

In this Porch Chat we will share some of our knowledge about trauma, the impact on families and the harm done when children are exposed to violence in their home or relationships. Together we will explore how we can build resiliency and safety during a time of uncertainty and isolation. Facilitated by outreach workers from Family and Children Services and Women’s Crisis Services,  participants will learn about the collaboration between these two agencies and how we can all support, advocate and encourage families experiencing any type of abuse or domestic violence to seek help and access the supports of community partners.

Knowledge is key in knowing what to look for and where to seek help

Porch chats are an opportunity for the community to come together and have conversations about what’s happening in our community. They are to promote understanding, build community connections and facilitate action among citizens and communities. Porch chats are part or the Friends of Crime Prevention initiative and chat ideas are brought forth my members of our community.

This will be a Virtual Porch Chat on Zoom. Registration is required to participate.
