inREACH (2009-2013)

Street Gang Prevention

inreachinREACH,a federally-funded youth street gang prevention program, operated in Waterloo Region from 2009-2013.

The inREACH program assisted youth between the ages of 13-24 and provided supports in the area of mental health, substance use, education, employment and family support. Interventions at a neighbourhood level also provided mentorship programs and recreation supports as alternatives for youth-at-risk of being involved in gangs.

inreach-drug-dealerinREACH delivered its program through a collaborative partnership approach including Waterloo Regional Police, ROOF, John Howard Society, Lutherwood, St. Mary’s Counselling and the WRCPC. inREACH worked with many social service organizations across Waterloo Region.
